Sending My Love to Ya Over the Fence

Yesterday, May 26th, was 10 years since the first time I saw John Mayer live. It was a local little festival and Michelle Branch was there, too. The venue was interesting- all general admission, all grass, but there was a huge rock gulley between the crowd and the stage. My sister and I were right at the fence. At one point during the show, John said to the crowd, “I’m sending my love to ya over the fence!”

I never knew what was waiting for me in my John Mayer fandom. I never knew I would be in a partnership with two people who GET IT, making a difference to so many people

I never knew that nearly 10 years to the day after seeing him for the first time, that he’d be hugging me and thanking me for something I did for him.

Thank you, Mr. Mayer, for everything in the past 10 years. Thank you for making it so that I never feel alone. Thank you for friends that will last a lifetime. Thank you for partnerships with the amazing people involved with you. Thank you for experiences and opportunities that I never thought I would be having. Wherever you choose to build your fence, I’ll send my love over it for you.

Monumentous Occasion

This weekend, I am going to spend a total of 14+ hours in the car and I didn’t bring my beloved Zune. I only brought Born & Raised.

Well, that’s a wrap on release week promotion for Born and Raised. It’s so phenomenally weird to wake up this morning at home and not in the back of a bus somewhere. On the bright side, releasing this album and getting back in touch with my fans has been something I’ve been waiting to experience for a long time now. I’m finally at a place in my life where I can truly appreciate the kindness and support, and you have shown me lots of it. Thank you for that.
As I understand it, the album is set to enter the charts at number one, which is just incredible on all your parts because there has been very little I’ve been able to do to promote it. In a world of schemes and strategies when it comes to selling something, you guys just bought music you trusted you’d like. You picked it up in the same way I made it… from the heart, no trickery. That is so cool and rare and all the marketeers in the world together can’t manufacture that. I am very grateful to you.
The making of this record was purposely undocumented, but there are a few iPhone videos and some photos to share. I figure I’ll do that here, and more often than I usually have in the past. Even if this album slides off the charts in a month, it doesn’t make it any less special to me, and we should all be digging this music together, like we would have (and will again) on stage.
Stay tuned…
with thanks and love
John

An Open Letter to John Mayer

Dear John Mayer,

Every time you are part of my life, I lose all sense of normalcy.  Sleeping patterns are disrupted, I begin to live out of a suitcase in my car, I never have everything I need in my purse because I always switch to a different one and not everything makes the transition, I have to brush my teeth at work because my toothbrush can never make it back into the house with me.  The list goes on and on. And it takes a long time to recover.

That being said, I wouldn’t change a thing.  Every bit of sleep I’ve lost has been worth the memories made in its absence.  I learn what I REALLY need to get ready in the mornings.  I discover I don’t need 13 lipglosses with me at all times.  You provide unforgettable experiences that don’t only include you, but people who have become a big part of my life and who I am.  I wouldn’t change a thing and I am looking forward to what the future holds helping to grow such an important philanthropy.

Love,

One of the Wristband Girls
